Suzanne had a wonderful holiday break...

The blog has been quiet lately because....

I went home for Christmas!!!!!!!

(To a very wintery Indiana)

And I spent it with my family and another very special person :)

It was great to catch up with my family- these little brothers definitely kept us entertained for the whole visit :)
Can't believe how big they are getting, and so smart too. Both of them have changed so much each time I get to see them.

And I am so excited to share with the world the highlight of this visit...

On January 4, 2014, Nick and I went on a walk to this spot under a bridge near my parent's house, and while we were standing there on the frozen creek he got down on one knee and asked if I'd marry him!

(And I said YES with a very joyful heart!)

We continued our walk to here, where Nick and both my parents had set up a campfire and we had some breakfast. (When I woke up that morning I remember that I smelled bacon, but then when I went downstairs there was nothing in the kitchen. I didn't think much of it, I just thought whoever made it ate it all. Little did I know it was for a very special breakfast picnic.)
Nick and my parents made that morning such a fun surprise for me! At one point Nick actually crawled through the window to the room he was staying in instead of coming through the kitchen so that I wouldn't suspect that he was up to anything. :)

I am happy to say that we will be getting married at the end of July- exactly 6 months from now!

I thank God every day for bringing our lives together. Nick's love for God is so evident in the way he lives and serves others, and I love him with my whole heart. Meeting each other on the ship and falling for each other in this community has been such a fun adventure- and it is my privilege to marry him in July!

We are apart for this season while I am serving here on the ship, and Nick is heading to Guinea to teach and train others in clubfoot treatment at a hospital up country. Right now I am back on the ship, getting started in a new nursing position which I love already, on the plastics dressings team. We will meet up again in June in the states- you can follow Nick's journey here.

2014 is going to be an excellent year, friends!
